The “HOHENMORGEN” was harvested around the 15th of October by hand. The yield was very low. Only very ripe grapes, with almost little botrytis, were picked to assure a concentrated, rich wine. The grapes were carefully pressed and the must was fermented in stainless-steel tanks. After the fermentation the wine was left for another four months in the tanks on its lees and was bottled at the end of April 2013.
The “HOHENMORGEN” Auslese is a very rich, intense Auslese. On the nose it offers ripe fruit aromas of peach and apricot. Hints of caramel and dried fruits can also be defined on the palate combined with the refreshing crispiness of the Riesling grape. Enjoy this Auslese now as a young, powerful and juicy sweet-wine with desserts, foie gras or cheese. Alternatively, keep it for up to the next two decades to develop more ripened and powerful flavours – typical of a matured Riesling!
