The Kalkofen is situated on the northern brim of Deidesheim. It is an south-facing vineyard with terraces. On the northern side high sandstone-walls build the border to Mäushöhle.
Picked by hand, selected several times. Pressed for 5 hours, settled for 24 hours, fermented in traditional oak )Stückfass) of 1200 Liters with Indigenous yeast.
On the nose: Fresh nuts, earthy minerality, lime and stone fruits.
On the palate: Good balance between extract and acidity, salty monerality.
Soil: Sandstone with limestone, loam and chalk.
Food recommendation: Fits perfectly with seafood and poultry.
Alcohol: 13,5% vol.
