Located on the western edge of the Rhine Valley, the grapevines are nestled on the slopes of the Palatinate Forest. It’s vineyards carpet the gently rolling hills and this is Germany’s second largest wine-growing region. Hard frosts are rare and there is abundant sunshine. It has a diverse range of soil types and 45 white and 22 red grape varieties have been approved for growing here. Riesling dominates again with over 5000 ha in production and our producer, Weingut Dr Von Bassermann-Jordan is a Riesling expert. We also have another shining star in the Pfalz, Weingut Friedrich Becker who is acknowledged to be one of the best Pinot Noir producers in Germany.
