What a Wine Tasting!
A huge thank you to everyone that joined us for The WineBarn's Annual Portfolio Wine Tasting in London in February. It was fantastic welcome both familiar faces and newcomers, as well as many of our winemakers who joined us from Germany. The highlight of our year, this well attended event held at The Royal Kennel Club, was a tremendous success. The atmosphere was electric, and it was a privilege to have the opportunity to show over 230 guests the depth and diversity of German wine.
With around 100 wines available to taste, our winemakers were there to guide guests through the unique terroir of their vineyards, as well as the cultivation and vinification techniques refined by generation after generation. Deeply passionate about their craft, they took pride in sharing their knowledge & experience, and of course, their incredible wines.
Kateryna Yushchenko, Wine Judge, Educator & Writer, affirmed;
"Some tastings are about discovery, others about confirmation. This one reminded me why Germany remains one of the most intellectually compelling wine countries in the world.
I am deeply grateful to The WineBarn for the opportunity to experience such a focussed and intelligently curated selection, and for continuing to champion producers whose work is grounded in heritage, precision and long-term vision."
Neil Sommerfelt, Master of Wine, said;
"As always, a fine line-up of top German wine estates at The WineBarn's Annual Portfolio Tasting. The best Rieslings - they offered finesse, intensity and precision, whilst the Spätburgunders (Pinot Noirs) were vibrant and distinctive. Thank you Iris and the team".
Nicky Forrest, Owner of This is Phipps, remarked;
"Fab tasting with The WineBarn. Superb wines as always, and always good catching up with old friends and meeting new ones".
Helen Shaw, Founder of Shaw About Wine, said;
"A lovely few days in London attending The WineBarn's Annual Portfolio Tasting. As always, it was so nice to be able to meet, and chat to, the talented winemakers behind the wines.
A fabulous opportunity to revisit the superb Spätburgunders from Meyer-Näkel. Thought of by many as the best in Germany, and I would have to concur! Sisters Dörte and Näkel run the estate in Ahr together, producing some beautifully structured, elegant Pinot Noirs which showcase their fabulous terroir.
Thank you to Iris Ellmann for the invite".
Jonathan T., Head of Wine at the Michelin 3 Star restaurant The Fat Duck, commented;
"I am glad I attended this tasting, it’s been amazing! My whole team loved it too".
Fritz Groebe, Owner of K. F. Groebe Winery, stated;
"Thank you for flawless organisation, high quality guests, and a fantastic event location at The Royal Kennel Club".
Kerstin Kranz, Owner of Kranz Winery, said;
"Thank you to The WineBarn for letting us showcase our portfolio in London again this year. Great wine, amazing people and an exciting city!".
