A sumptuous and historic journey through wines from seven decades - The Schloss Reinhartshausen Masterclass

We were absolutely thrilled to take recent guests on a fascinating sampling journey through seven historic decades of Schloss Reinhartshausen Riesling at The WineBarn's latest Ultimate Masterclass.

With seven exquisite Rieslings produced over seven separate decades, guests delighted in sampling vintages from the Rheingau based wine producer with a 680 year history.

From the 1959 Rheinhell Riesling Auslese - to which one guest enthused, “It is amazing how much more life the 1959 Auslese still has” - through to 80s, 90s and 00s classics, not one decade of Riesling was left unturned on this sumptuous journey.

Hosted by The WineBarn MD; Iris Ellmann and Stefan Lergenmueller, current owner of the estate, in the historic halls of The Army & Navy Club London, guests were fascinated by anecdotes from guest of honour Prinz Fritz, and insights from Prinz Fritz von Preussen (Prinz Nicholas being the great-grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm II and a direct descendant of Queen Victoria - whose family were previous owners of Schloss Reinhartshausen).

If the historic seven decade Riesling journey was not enough, guests were also treated to exquisite examples of the Schloss Reinhartshausen Grand Cru Rieslings that can only be typified through a wine-growing estate with such a legacy.

A truly remarkable evening and milestone in German wine production.
