"Broad in the mouth, widens, fans out and is more loose knit. Yet on the finish, the acidity tightens up very quickly, snaps into intentional focus. The finish is fantastic: power and fanfare, and mouth-watering. The fruit is succulent, sensuous, but even with the breadth and lavish spread, there is diamond-cutter precision in the acidity. Every bit glorious."

Wine: This Riesling Grand Cru has great opulence and length, as well as clear expression. A dry white wine, it has very complex in aromas, with hints of peach, melon and fig. A gexcellent wine from a fantastic location.
Vineyard: The vineyard is classified as VDP Grosse Lage. VPD. GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru) is the highest classification of quality for German vineyards.
The grapes for this wine come from 50 year old Riesling vines grown in a vineyard with VDP. Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) classification. From the glacial valley of the Rhine to the edge of a high plateau, rises the sloping Aulerde vineyard, which is sheltered by the eastern and southern slopes of the Kirchspiel.
Soil: The Aulerde vineyard has soil rich in clay loam with a layer of gravelly sandstone. There is also a thick loess layer. This gives the vines a rich supply of minerals.
Vinification: The fully ripened, golden Riesling berries were hand picked in late October. After the gentle crushing and pressing of the grapes, fermentation and maturation of the wine took place in traditional oak casks.
