Vineyard: The Kieselberg is located west of Deidesheim on the slope of the Haardt Mountains and lies between the Leinho2hle and the Mäushöhle.
Meaning as in New High German: Pebble, coarse-grained, stony sand.
Fist mentioned as early as the 13th century, in 1234 Cuselberch. The site is completely situated on a small plateau. A sandstone wall forms the northern border to the Ma4ushöhle. The plateau is slightly inclined to the south and borders the Leinhöhle and the Hohenmorgen.
Wine: The grapes come from the oldest plot of our Kieselberg, planted in 1979. A small part of the hand-picked grapes were destemmed and fermented on the mash, the largest part was gently pressed. The must was pre-clarified by sedimentation and then fermented partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in traditional wooden barrels. The fermented grapes were also pressed after 7 days and the fermenting must was transferred to the wooden barrel.
The individual batches were combined shortly before filling in July.
The Kieselberg Riesling GG shows in the nose hints of stone fruit like mirabelle plum and peach, but also some apple.
In the mouth dense with elegant acidity, fine minerality and long finish.
A wonderful companion to the upscale cuisine with light meat, fish and poultry with light sauces
Give the Kieselberg another 305 years bottle maturity before you drink it.
