Meyer-Näkel 2016 Dernauer Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder - Decanter World Wine Award 2019 - Platinum Winner

Meyer-Näkel 2016 Dernauer Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry (Case of 12)

Regular price £740.40

This full-bodied Spätburgunder (German Pinot Noir) won the Platinum Decanter World Wine Award 2019. An extremely aromatic, fruity and subtle wine, it displays sheer elegance. Its aroma of dark cherries, wild blackberries and ripe raspberries & blueberries, is underlined by a hint of violets.

Harvested from grapes grown in the Ahr region, the vineyard's advantageous south facing slopes and greywacke & slate soil that easily warms up, create a favourable micro-climate.

Grapes are meticulously hand-picked from old vines which produce a consistent yield of 25 hl/ha. The fully ripened grapes were harvested at the end of October 2016, an exceptional year, then gently pressed. The wine was aged in Barrique (70% new oak) barrels for around 16 months and stored for a further 6 months in bottles.
