From the glacial valley of the Rhine rises the south to the south-east inclined Westhofener hillsides up to the edge of a high plateau. Protected by the east and south-east slopes of the Kirchspiel, the Aulerde lies in the middle slope area. The vineyards are slightly inclined to the south. The special topographical situation on the edge of a relief demolition offers optimal outflow possibilities for cold air. Classified as VDP Grosse Lage Soil: The center part of the Aulerde is characterized by loess soil with loam and clayey, also gritty sands in the underground. The skeleton part is very small. Sue to a small proportion of real sand, the soil is well drained and consequently easy to work. Our vineyard is located in the center of the old location, at the point where under the here up to two meters thick loess layer a vein of green clay runs through the subsoil. This gives the wines a rich supply of minerals and thus shapes the wine sustainably. Wine: The grapes were harvested in our oldest Riesling vineyards in the middle of the Aulerde. The picking is date always at the end of the harvest and addition to fully ripe, golden yellow Riesling berries with intense fruit flavor, also a good part introduced by noble rot shriveled raisin berries.
