"Vegetal, firm. Cucumber, lime and salt. Nice finish." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 15.5 points
Vineyard: The site of the “HOHENMORGEN” is situated at the western brim of the town of Deidesheim. Deidesheim is the historical centre of the quality wine-making in the Palatinate area. The HOHENMORGEN is a south facing slope of only 2,76 ha and by this the smallest and most exclusive vineyard of Deidesheim.
Winemaking: About 40 years old vines were harvested in several stages and pressed and fermented separately in traditional oak barrels.
Tasting notes: This dry white wine has flavours of fruit and a lively acidity. It is yeasty, complex and mineralic. On the nose it is nutty, with aromas of mixed fruit, as well as slightly citric and herbaceous notes.
Food recommendation: White meat (veal), shellfish, regional kitchen.
Soil: The soil is a pure eroded sandstone soil.
Alcohol: 13,0% vol.
Res. sugar: 3,9 g/l
Acidity: 7,6 g/l
