Spätburgunder B is a pleasant, clear ruby red Pinot Noir. On the palate it is juicy, elegant and with good length & structure. In the nose this wine has aromas of wild berries, tobacco, spices and forest floor.
The grapes for Becker's Spätburgunder B were grown in limestone soil around Schweigen, near the German / French border. The vines are 14 to 35 years old. Harvested by hand, the grapes were then de-stemmed. Before pressing, the grapes were macerated for 14 to 21 days to extract all the flavours and aromas from the grape-skins into the juice. The juice was fermented in oak barrels. On lees for almost 16 months after fermentation to gain even more flavour and complexity through the lees-contact. The filling was done without filtration and fining.
