"I see what Arne Bercher means about the nervous green line. Very light oatmeal and spice on the nose. Long and fine, a silver-gold blade of fruit. Apple, melon, but that's oversimplifying a very elegant wine that is not telling the story of fruit but of shape and drive. A wine with understated elegance, symmetry and synchronicity, and a very precise, long finish." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 17.5 points
Bercher's Chardonnay has elegant notes of gooseberry and lime with an aromatic spiciness and filigree acidity on palate.
This dry wine comes from two vineyards - one has volcanic soils from which they used to make a rather big New World-style wine, the other is a much higher vineyard from which they used to make a lighter more acidic wine. The winery decided to blend the vineyards for more balance.
This Chardonnay is 100% barrel fermented and aged, in 15% new oak barrels.
