Wine: This dry Spätburgunder is a traditional Pinot Noir that is typical of the Ahr region. In the nose, this red wine has slightly earthy bouquet, as well as aromas of blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and cherry with hints of spicy juniper and laurel. A smooth wine, it has an elegant tannin structure and excellent substance.
Vineyard: The Ahr vineyard that these Spätburgunder grapes were grown in has soil rich in slate and greywacke.
Vinification: Grapes were carefully picked by hand and then gently crushed. Fermentation and melolactic maturation of the wine took place in barriques (French oak barrels).
Food recommendation: This wine pairs perfectly with poultry, light meat, pasta and mushrooms. It is also an excellent companion to spicy or grilled strongly flavoured fish.
