It is an early ripening variety of the Pinot Noir grape. The very small, thick-skinned grapes produce fruity and full-bodied wines with an intense colour. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWinery:\u003c\/strong\u003e The secret of the Ahr wines is optimum microclimate created by its geological conditions. The steep south-facing vineyards provide optimal exposure to the sun. The soil there is rich in slate and greywacke, which warms up quickly and an retains the sun's heat. The narrow valley is protected by the mountains of the Eifel, providing the ideal environment for the vines to flourish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVinification: \u003c\/strong\u003eSustainable vineyard management, yield reduction and gentle hand harvesting are the precursors to this wine. The yield is about 30-35hl\/ha, and after maceration and gentle pressing, the grapes are fermented with natural yeasts in wooden barrels for 10 months. Primarily in used barrels, so there is no new oak used.
