Wine: A pleasant, clear ruby red Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) with dark reflections. In the nose, it has aromas of blackberries, tobacco, spices, as well as hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is dense and elegant, with good length and structure.
Vineyards: Located around Schweigen, the vineyards fall on both the French and German side. There, the 29 to 54 year old vines grow in limestone rich soil.
Vinification: The pinot noir grapes were carefully selected by hand, destemmed, and fermented separately from the mash. After two to three weeks fermentation in open oak casks, the grapes were gently juiced. Further maturation took place for 36 months in small oak barrels (barriques). The wine was bottled without filtration in December 2021.
