Scents of fresh nuts, citrus flavour, herbs and fruits like peach and apple. In flavour, this is a powerful Riesling with fresh acidity and a long, chalky and savoury finish.
The “Kalkofen” is located on the western brim of the town of Deidesheim, in the centre of the Palatinate wine growing area. The name of the vineyard is related to an old limestone-brick oven in the middle-ages. This indicates a high content of limestone in this part of the vineyard, which gives a lot of minerality to the vines. The vineyard faces east, south-east, which guarantees a lot of direct sunshine from the early morning to the late afternoon.
The soils of this vineyard include: Sandy and clay soils with several inlays of limestone (partly eroded).
