Wine: This elegant dry Riesling Premier Cru has flavours of exotic yellow fruit with a hint of lemongrass. Highly aromatic, it has a fine chalky grip, long finish, fresh juiciness balanced with a soft acid and a salty minerality in the finish. A harmonious white wine with great length.

Vineyard: Ilbesheimer Westerberg vineyard is situated on the west slope of the Kleine Kalmit. The "Kleine Kalmit" is a little hill (272m) that was formed during the tertiary period and the sinking of the upper rift. The area around the Kleine Kalmit Hill in the Paptinate is called the classical square mile of geology, because it consists of a unique combination of rock - the soil is extremely calcareous, whilst the upper layer consists of clay.
What makes this vineyard such an optimum site, is the warm morning temperatures and lingering evening sun. The not so "hot" site on the Kalmit provides an environment where ripe, healthy grapes with a crisp acidity grow.

Vinification: After selective hand-picking, the grapes are sorted in the winery and very gently pressed to extract the best possible finesse, freshness and tension. Without maceration, the grapes are fermented with natural yeast and matured in stainless steel vats.

Food recommendations: This Riesling Premier Cru pairs perfectly with seafood, veal and oriental cuisine.
