This Weissburgunder was nominated by Decanter as one of their 'Top Five Best Value Grand Crus'.

Wine: A concentrated Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) with pure elegance and spice. On the nose, it has fine notes of yellow stone fruit, subtle roasted aromas, and flint. This dry white wine is salty, precise, and gripping on the palate.

Vineyard: The Kleine Kalmit ("Little Hill") is a 270-meter-high hill formed during the subsidence of the Upper Rhine Rift during the tertiary period.
The vineyard has porous limestone as the base, whilst it's topsoil is a combination of loess, marl, and clay, making this terrain truly unique.
In 2008, Ilbesheimer Kalmit was registered as a single vineyard site (“Einzellage”) in the official directory of historic vineyard names. This was the first time the register had been expanded to inlcude a geographically geologically homogeneous single site since 1971 - a historic achievement for Ilbesheim that made Kranz winery very proud.
VDP.GROSSE LAGE® Ilbesheimer Kalmit - the southern slope of the Kleine Kalmit - is Kranz's show piece vineyard. Its southerly exposure ensures sunshine throughout the day - optimal conditions for powerful, characterful, and fully ripe wines.

Vinification: Grapes were carefully harvested by hand, and gently pressed. Spontaneous fermentation occurred with minimal pre-clarification. The wine matured in oak barrels (barriques).

Alcohol: 13,5% vol.
Res. sugar: 1,1 g/l
Acidity: 6,4 g/l
