Wine: This Spätburgunder Rosé wine is made from red Pinot Noir grapes, yet displays a soft salmon colour. The wine's colour derives from the fact that the red grapes are treated like white grapes, meaning that the grapes are only in contact with their skins for a couple of hours before they're pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
This salmon-coloured Pinot Noir Rosé is a wine for the sunny days of the year. It beguiles in the nose with pronounced aromas of raspberry and strawberry, as well as hints of violet. On the palate, it's very juicy, concentrated and fresh, with a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity.
Vineyard: Ahr wines benefit from the perfect microclimate created by geological conditions. with the steep, south-facing vineyards provide optimal exposure to the sun. The soil is rich in slate and greywacke which warms up quickly in the sunshine and retains the sun's heat. This is what makes Ahr's narrow valley, protected by the mountains of the Eifel, an ideal environment for vineyards.
Vinification: The Pinot Noir grapes are picked by hand and transported to the winery. There, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is clarified. Cooled and strained, the fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks. After several weeks of storage on the lees, the filling takes place after about six months.
