A complex Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) with fruity aromas of blackberry, raspberry and plum, as well as dark chocolate with hints of spicy herbs and liquorice. This red wine has a well balanced tannin structure and elegance. It also has excellent ageing potential.

Vineyard: In Walporzheim vineyards, in the Ahr valley where this wine originated from, has steep, terraced vineyards, and is one of the best in the region.

The name of the vineyard dates back to the Romans who settled near Walporzheim and cultivated wine and herbs in the Kräuterberg area due to its optimum climatic conditions.

The soil is rich in slate and greywacke decomposition stone. The steepness and the intense direct sunlight create a nearly Mediterranean microclimate, which produces a Grand Cru wine that is powerful and a has a rich bouquet.

Vinification: The fully ripened grapes were carefully harvested, gently pressed, and the wine matured in barrique (oak barrels) for about 16 months.
