Wine: On the nose, this Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) Grand Cru has aromas of wild berries, tobacco and black tea. On the palate, this deep ruby red it is dense, powerful and juicy. It has very good length, an elegant freshness and excellent structure. It also has great aging potential.
Vineyard: The south-facing vineyard is in Weißenburg, in the middle of the Franconian wine-making region. The soil there is rich in limestone rock with clayey loam top soil.
Vinification: The grapes were carefully selected by hand, de-stemmed and fermented on the skins. After two to three weeks of fermentation in open oak vats, the grapes were gently pressed. The wine matured for 18 months in small oak barrels. This dry red wine was then bottled without filtration.
Alcohol: 13,5% vol.
