The “Hohenmorgen" is a rich and powerful Riesling. This dry wine is almost creamy. It has aromas of ripe peach and apricot, even herbal notes combined with the mineralic spice which give the wine its character. The Hohenmorgen has excellent ageing potential. so can be enjoyed now as a young and powerful Riesling or within the next decade as the richness and the ”Terroir” character increases.
Vineyard: The vineyard in which the Hohenmorgen grapes were grown is situated at the western brim of the town of Deidesheim. Deidesheim is the historical centre of quality wine making in the Palatinate area. The south facing slope of the Hohenmorgen site is only 2,76 ha and is therefore the smallest and most exclusive vineyard of Deidesheim. The soil there is rich is eroded sandstone.
Vinification: The grapes for this Riesling were harvested around 10th October 2014 and carefully selected by hand. The yield was only 32 hl/ha to assure a concentrated, rich wine. The grapes were carefully pressed and the must was fermented in stainless-steel tanks and traditional oak casks. After the fermentation, the wine was another five months on the lees with batonage and was bottled in June 2015.
