Kranz 2015 Kirchberg Riesling Grand Cru dry

Regular price £51.30

Site: Kirchberg is the heart of the "kleine Kalmit". The kleine Kalmit is a hill (272m) which was formed during the Tertiary and the sinking of the Upper Rift. The area around this hill is called the classical square mile of geology, because it consists of a unique combination of rocks. The soil is extremely calcareous. The mixture of land snail chalk as a base and the changing top soils such as loess, marl or clay, are making this terrain so special. The Kirchberg is a very old terraces vineyard, which is exposed to the southwest. In this vineyard we do almost all work by hand.

Harvest: Extremely selective manual harvest.

Vinification: Gentle processing of the grapes, fermentation in "Halbstückfässern" (600 l wooden barrels) with a long yeast storage until the bottling in August.

Wine: Aromas of pear and ripe peach, juicy and spicy, a little honey with a creamy touch, nice minerality with a ripe but still pleasingly present acidity, fine and elegant, great matured Riesling.

Storability: 10 years and more

Food recommendation: Seafood in all variations, especially good with oysters or scallops, poularde from the oven.

Drinking temperature: 12 Celsius

Alcohol: 13,0% vol.
Res. sugar: 2,8 g/l
Acidity: 8,2 g/l
