This dry Riesling is a wine that is very expressive of its terroir. It is full of ripe and yellow fruit flovours, is wonderfully animated and has floral aromas.
The Riesling grapes which produced Schneider's "Melaphyr" wine are grown on the steep, south facing slope that are rich in volcanic rock. The soil warms up quickly, providing optimum growing conditions.
The grapes for this wine were harvested by hand in late October, after a very long growing season.
After a maceration period of around six hours, the grapes were gently pressed and the left to ferment in temperature controlled vats with natural yeasts.
