Becker 2018 St. Paul Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry

Regular price £105.45

Vineyard: Named after the monastery's former outpost, this south-facing vineyard is located in Weissenburg, on a large limestone rock that has a loamy-clayey top soil.

Vinification: The grapes for this Spätburgunder were carefully selected and de-stemmed by hand, then fermented on the mash. After two to three weeks fermentation in open oak vats, they were gently pressed. Further maturation continued for 18 months in small French oak barrels. The wine was then bottled without filtration.

Wine: This Spätburgunder is a fine, medium strength ruby red. In the nose, it has aromas of juniper and other wild berries, as well as tobacco, pepper and forest floor. Dense on the palate, it has a strong substance and youthful tannins. Juicy with a very good length, this red wine has excellent structure and great storage potential.
