Bischel 2016 Appenheimer Frühburgunder dry

Regular price £29.00

Bischel's Appenheimer Frühburgunder delivers a gentle velvety fruit flavour with a spicy tannin structure on the palate. A long finish rounds this wine up perfectly. On the nose, it has animated aromas of ripe fruits of the forest, cherry and cassis, as well as hints of smokey wood and leather.

Vineyard: The grapes for this Frühburgunder come from Bischel's vineyard in Appenheimer, Drossenborn. Vines are grown in soil that is rich in loess and chalkstone. Facing westwards, the vineyard is very open to wind which protects the grapes from Boytritis and ensures a slow ripening process. This guarantees a solid tannin structure, as well as fresh berry aromas from small berry bunches.

Vinification: After the grapes are harvested by hand, they are de-stalking and fermented with wild yeast is open contains. The pressing of the mash is being done by hand. This dry red wine then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels and is bottled unfiltered.
