"This vineyard was given to them 28 years ago as a wedding gift. A south-facing vineyard with 2 distinct section:eastern and western. The souls and gradients are quite variable across the site.
Apple blossom and smoke on the nose. Lean and bone, bone dry. Bones and stones, and stony citrus. Petrol notes developing through the matric of timy green flowers carved in smoky metal." / Tamlyn Currin @ Jancis Robinson / 16.5 + points

The Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck vineyard site is situated between the Berg Schlossberg and Drachenstein vineyard sites. The name Roseneck refers to the many wild rose hedges that can frequently be found on the cliffs in this area. This vineyard site comprises two parts, an eastern and a western section. The western section is dominated by a canyon-like indentation and has the steepest vineyards. Most of the vineyard site is covered with soil of intermediate depth with stony/gritty areas. The vineyard gradually becomes fairly flat in an eastward direction and is bounded on the eastern side by a cliff. Deep loess-clay soil covers the ground here. The gradient of the Berg Roseneck is 15° and the site is entirely south-facing. Due to its particular location, the vineyards are protected from the late frost.
The combination of south-facing slopes and soils from the Taunus' parent rock (quartzite with slate sites), produces delicate wines with well-balanced acidity. It is precisely this balance which promises a wine well-suited for long aging.

The fragrance of the Roseneck is aromatic and elegant. It almost as if you can smell the roses surrounding the vineyard. The wine exhibits a fine aroma of passion fruit and pineapple, with peachy notes. The fruitiness of the fragrance can also be distinguished in the taste. The wine feels very smooth to the tongue and has mineral hints. A well-balanced harmony invites further tasting.
