Bischel's Johannisberg Spätburgunder is spicy on the palate, with flavours of tea, liquorice and dense berries. It has a concentrated finish with hints of Burgundy. This elegant dry red wine has animated scents of cassis and fine wood.
Vineyard: The grapes for this Spätburgunder were grown in soil rich in loess and chalk stone. The vines grow on the terraced slopes do not get a lot of water, which results in highly concentrated tiny berries that have fully ripened tannins.
Vinification: Grapes are selected by hand, de-stalking and fermented in open barrels. The pressing of the mash isdone by hand. After fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French and German oak barrels before it is bottled.
Food recommendation: The perfect accompaniment to any red meat, game or cheese.
