The Kalkofen is situated on the northern brim of Deidesheim. It is a south-facing vineyard with terraces. On the northern side, high sandstone-walls build the border to Mäushöhle.
Picked by hand, selected several times. Pressed for 5 hours, settled for 24 hours, fermented in traditional oak (Stückfass) of 1200 liters with indigenous yeast.
On the nose: Fresh nuts, earthy minerality, lime and stone fruits.
On the palate: Good balance between extract and acidity, salty minerality.
Soil: Sandstone with limestone, loam, and chalk.
Food recommendation: Fits perfectly with seafood and poultry.
Alcohol: 13,0% vol.
Res. sugar: 3,0 g/l
Acidity: 7,0 g/l
