The name of this unique, typical bottle originates from the word “book” because, as a hip flask, it fitted into the pouch in which the monks and pilgrims carried their prayer book. In antiquity, the mouth-blown glass bottle was a precious drinking vessel. Later, in the Middle Ages, it is found mainly as a pilgrim’s bottle made of glass or clay. Since the beginning of the 18th century, it has been the trademark of exceptional wines from Franconia. For us, the Bocksbeutel embodies tradition and uniqueness.
